The King’s Academy Lady Lions Soccer Team Cruises To Regional Final

Category : Uncategorized

Earlier this week The King’s Academy Lady Lions soccer team defeated Evangelical Christian, 4-0. Andrea Jefferson scored all four goals for the Lions (19-5-0). The Lions will host Tampa Prep in a regional final on Friday at 6 PM.

This year, the Lady Lions’ head coach, Glenn Martin, subscribed to one philosophy. “I tell them to just keep the pedal to the metal,” said Martin.

The Lions (19-5) used a relentless offensive push to advance to the Region 2A-3 final with a 4-0 victory over Evangelical Christian on a damp Tuesday night at Sentinel Stadium.

Evangelical Christian (17-4-2) might have been at a disadvantage before the start of the match, against a team that was a state semifinalist last year.

“I think going in we were a little intimidated. We had heard how well they played and how balanced they were all the way around,” said ECS coach Anna Howell.

The way the Lions forced the tempo it wouldn’t have mattered who the opponent was. “We played extremely well. We played the ball well and showed what we can do,” said Martin.

Senior Andrea Jefferson accounted for all four goals, which were spread over the match’s first 27 minutes. “Last year we made it to states and are expected to go back. This game was a big deal to keep advancing,” said Jefferson.
