On March 11, 2010, Suzanne Buckingham Slade will be visiting the kids in K-2nd grade at The King’s Academy via Skype (a sensational internet phone and video chat system).
Suzanne is the author of over 70 children’s books. Her works include picture books, biographies, as well as titles about animals, sports, and nature.
Ms. Slade holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and worked in the engineering field several years before starting her writing career. She lives near Chicago with her husband, Mike, and two children, Christina and Patrick. Ms. Slade spends most days doing what she loves – dreaming up new story ideas, reading new children’s books, researching, and best of all – writing!
Ms. Slade will be sharing her most recent book “What’s New at the Zoo?” with kids. This in-depth class visit includes a summary of Slade’s journey – a story of persistence that began with many rejection letters (you’ll see her stack!) – and a reading of her latest picture book. She will also share the fascinating way an idea becomes a book, along with an extensive Q & A session.
