TKA’s West Palm Beach and Clewiston Students Bond at Bash
Friday, August 27, three buses filled with 130 excited seventh and eighth graders left The King’s Academy‘s West Palm Beach campus headed for TKA’s Junior High Bash at Boomers-Ft. Lauderdale. While most of the students were focused on the fun ahead, the School had an additional goal for the trip. Michelle Kolar, Director of Student Life, explained, “This year, we are looking for ways to introduce students from our West Palm Beach campus to those at our new Clewiston campus. We really want them to have opportunities to become friends and to realize that King’s is one school with two locations.”
So, Kolar was especially pleased that 16 junior high students from Clewiston joined the trek to Ft. Lauderdale. They were accompanied on the trip by Scott Sentgeorge, TKA’s Clewiston Principal. Students from both campuses enjoyed four hours together with unlimited access to go-karts, bumper boats, rock wall climbing, amusement rides, miniature golf, laser tag, and video games. By the end of the night, they had begun to develop lasting relationships. Clewiston eighth grader J.J. Navarro said, “It was a fun experience going and meeting other students and the staff from TKA.” West Palm Beach students also made new friends. “I had so much fun! I bonded with my peers a lot. It was nice meeting the Clewiston kids!” remarked West Palm Beach eighth grader Alexis MeColgan.
